Off-shore Operations Job Description DevOps
The Operations Specialist s primary purpose is to provide system level knowledge and expertise in deploying and managing enterprise eCommerce websites. Through demonstrated expertise and skills in production environment configuration, troubleshooting and tuning as well as WebLogic product knowledge, this person will become an indispensable team member to maintain our client’s web properties and help expand and grow their business.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze customer’s business requirements and technology objectives to develop environmental architecture designs to support the customer environments
- Assist customers in sizing and procuring hardware
- Responsible for installing and configuring software for all production and non-production environments
- Works with the development team to create and manage automated build and deployment scripts
- Conducts pre-launch activities for each environment throughout the project lifecycle
- Troubleshoots the deployed applications and environments for performance-related issues and helps to resolve those issues
- Creates key project deliverables, including environment architecture diagrams, pre-launch activities, launch procedures, and run-books
- Works closely with development staff, client and hosting providers to confirm the application environment is working as expected
- Assists with transition activities to hosting provider and client
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years Systems Administrator experience
- 1+ years Oracle Commerce (ATG and/or Endeca) experience
- 2+ years Web Logic installation and configuration experience
- Desired Knowledge and Expertise
- Experience with medium to large-scale high-volume e-commerce systems and application deployment
- Experience working on industry-standard application servers (JBoss, WebLogic)
- Strong understanding of Relational Databases, such as Oracle, with Database Administration a plus
- Experience with Web Servers, specifically Apache, and SSL setup
- Solid experience in networking and load balancing
- Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle
- Superior Unix/Linux skill set
- Understanding of build processes and tools, such as ANT, Maven, Jenkins, Bamboo
- Experience working on 3rd party integrations and necessary setup to support the application from a systems level
- Shell Scripting experience
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and identify root cause of issues
- Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Object Oriented Analysis and Design/Development (OOA/OOD)
- Understanding of Java/J2EE, XML, SOAP, Servlet, Web Service and other relevant Java technologies
- Understanding of web user interface technologies (HTML, CSS, JSP, Tag Libraries, AJAX, JavaScript)
- Familiarity with source code control systems and processes such as git.
