Purpose of Role

Production Manager is the person who oversees the production process and all its activities with team of supervisors. He is responsible for all parameters which are directly or indirectly related with production to achieve targeted production.

Responsibility
  • Production: Formulation of Production plan as per Orders in hand and their Corresponding Delivery Period and Priorities of Customer.
  • Human Resource: Plan Supervisors and Labour deployment as per need in Various Shifts. Arrange Regular Training for Supervisors and Labour on Various aspects related with Production, Quality, Health, Safety and Hygiene.
  • Raw material, Consumables and Packaging: Plan availability of Raw Material (Primary and Secondary) to achieve Targeted Production. Ensure availability of Consumables and Packaging required
  • Quality: Ensure Quality Check at each stage to reduce cost and ensure 100% compliant product quality as per buyer sample.
  • Compliance/ Maintenance: Plan 100% compliance of health and safety norms in the factory as per factory standards. Plan Preventive Maintenance Schedule with Maintenance Department (Mechanical +Electrical) to ensue Zero Breakdown. Plan Minimum Loss of time by keeping sufficient spare during Breakdown Maintenance.
Production
  • Liaise with Merchandising Dept on delivery priorities
  • Ensure timely production and inspection for all goods
  • Day to day firefighting
  • Plan Daily/ Weekly/ Monthly Production Schedule and Inspection Planning.
  • Communicate Daily / Weekly / Monthly Production schedule very clearly and in writing to all supervisors and teams.
  • Day to day reporting on Daily / Weekly / Monthly Production status with supervisors and teams.
  • Daily Supervisor Progress report Check to ensure smooth Operation in all
  • Ensure Daily / Weekly / Monthly Targets are achieved
  • Target tracking and improvement
  • Time study / production log / rejection qty for all departments to be maintained
  • Capacity planning
  • Studies and records time, motion, methods and speed involved in performance of production and other worker operations to establish standard production rates and to improve efficiencies. Institutes changes in the production processes and/or recommends adjustments to product pricing.
  • New Product Development: Ensure product design and tooling to allow efficient production methods.

Reporting on Weekly basis (every Thursday) / Monthly basis (7th of each month) to Director (MDO) with clear target inspection achievement. TNA progress and root cause analysis of delays.

Raw material, Consumables and Packaging
  • Forecast Raw Material(Kora) needed on Weekly/ Monthly basis.
  • Communicate Raw Material(Kora) needed on Weekly/ Monthly basis
  • Ensure primary and secondary Raw material purchase is done
  • Ensure Raw Material(Kora) delivery is met to achieve target production dates
  • Ensure availability of consumables (powder, polish or plant) for production use to achieve targets.
  • Ensure availability of all packaging (primary or secondary).
  • Arrange proper unloading and stacking of Raw Materials (Kora) / Primary / Secondary / Consumables/ Packaging.
  • Ensure QC of incoming Raw Materials (Kora) / Primary / Secondary / Consumables/ Packaging.
  • Liaise with Purchase Dept for any requirements
  • Reporting on Monthly basis (7th of each month) to Director (MDO) with clear target achievement. root cause analysis of delays.
Human Resource
  • Monthly/ Weekly forecast of labour requirement in each dept as per work load
  • Daily check for availability of sufficient labour / supervisor in all departments/ shifts.
  • Daily Checking and Approval of OT and submission to HR.
  • Weekly Training to new recruit on systems or processes of factory.
  • Training & Evaluation of all staff
  • Follow all HR policies
  • Weekly 1 hour meeting with HR team to discuss issues and its solutions.
  • Submission of minutes of meeting to Director (MDO) via email with solutions and time plan.
Quality
  • Ensure QC of incoming Raw Materials (Kora) / Primary / Secondary / Consumables/ Packaging.
  • Ensure corrective action is taken in timely manner without effecting the production TNA
  • 100% visual check on all kora/ semi finished/ finished goods (WIP)
  • Identification and segregation of non conforming goods
  • Immediate rectification to ensure no change in TNA
  • Ensure availability of resources (man – machine – material) on immediate basis.
  • Liaise with Quality Head/ Quality Manager to ensure smooth functioning and correct finish.
  • Daily update yourself with QC department regarding inspection.
  • Weekly 1 hour meeting with QC team and Merchant team jointly to discuss quality related issues and its solutions.
  • Submission of minutes of meetinp to Director (MDO) via email with solutions and time plan.
Compliance/ Maintenance
  • Ensure all health and safety compliances are met
  • No unidentified / illegal/ child labour in the factory
  • Weekly Records & Reports check of maintenance team.
  • Daily check on BOTTLENECK machinery and tools condition – if any discrepancy highlight immediately to maintenance team
  • Weekly check on NON BOTTLENECK machinery and tools condition – if any discrepancy highlight immediately to maintenance team
  • Weekly 1 hour meeting with GM, Compliance Manager, maintained team to accomplish above, to discuss weekly requirement and necessary Solutions.
  • Submission of minutes of meeting to Director (MDO) via email with solutions and time plan.
Measurement Metrics
  • Production: Achievement of 100 % Inspection dates each month as per Monthly Production Plan .
  • Raw material, Consumables and Packaging: Plan availability of Raw Material (Primary and Secondary) to achieve Targeted Production. Ensure availability of Consumables and Packaging required
  • Human Resource: Salary benchmarks target vs actual, OT benchmarks target vs actual
  • Quality: Achievement of 100 % Quality Check, Zero Rejection, no Failed Inspection, no Claims from Buyer
  • Compliance/ Maintenance: Achievement of no NC in Internal Audits and 3rd party audits. Achievement of 100% Breakdown free Hours as Per Monthly Preventive Maintenance Plan.
