About the Role:
A leading multinational engineering innovation center is seeking a Director – Engineering to lead the Electrical Sector R&D team for the Americas region. This leadership position will drive a large, multi-disciplinary engineering organization, delivering innovation, technical excellence, and strategic growth in line with the company’s global objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership to a 450+ member engineering organization supporting a global business group valued at over $8B.
- Shape and execute the R&D portfolio for new products and technologies, fostering organic growth and engineering excellence.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration in value analysis, component engineering, factory and customer support.
- Lead energy transition initiatives, including distributed and microgrid architectures.
- Oversee engineering disciplines including electronics, electro-mechanical design, firmware, wireless, cloud, and IoT.
- Manage a diverse set of product lines — meters, circuit breakers, regulators, electrical drives, sensors, and IoT-enabled products.
- Develop 3–5 year capability roadmaps aligned with global product strategies.
- Champion design excellence through DFx, Agile, and DFSS methodologies.
- Build and mentor high-performing technical and leadership teams; ensure succession readiness.
- Collaborate with global stakeholders to define future technology and product roadmaps.
- Optimize the use of prototyping and testing infrastructure to accelerate NPI/VA programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- 15+ years of experience in product design and development within multinational engineering organizations.
- Minimum 5–10 years in senior organizational leadership roles managing globally distributed teams (40+ members).
- Experience in full product lifecycle management, particularly in circuit protection, drives, or industrial automation.
- Strong understanding of electrical controls, automation, and protection systems.
- DFSS (Green/Black Belt) certification preferred.
- Proven record of managing large, diverse teams and driving capability development.
