Job Description

We are looking for an experienced R&D Head to lead the Research & Development function for a reputed food manufacturing company in India. The candidate will be responsible for driving product innovation, new product development, process improvement, and quality enhancement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the overall R&D strategy and product development roadmap in alignment with business objectives.
• Drive New Product Development (NPD) from concept, formulation and trials through commercialization.
• Develop and improve food products, formulations, recipes, and manufacturing processes.
• Lead initiatives for product quality, consistency, shelf life, cost optimization, and process efficiency.
• Conduct product trials, sensory evaluations, stability studies, and scale-up activities.
• Work closely with Production, Quality, Procurement, Marketing, and Operations teams for successful product launches.
• Identify new ingredients, technologies, processes, and market trends to support innovation.
• Ensure products and processes comply with applicable food safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
• Manage and mentor the R&D team and build strong technical capabilities.
• Coordinate with suppliers, laboratories, technology partners, and external research institutions where required.
• Lead troubleshooting and technical improvements related to existing products and manufacturing processes.
• Prepare and manage R&D budgets, timelines, projects, and resources.
• Drive continuous improvement and innovation across the product portfolio.

Candidate Profile

• 25+ years of relevant experience in R&D/Product Development within the food manufacturing or FMCG food industry.
• Proven experience in leading an R&D function and managing technical teams.
• Strong expertise in food product development, formulation, process development, scale-up, and commercialization.
• Experience in handling multiple product categories and large-scale manufacturing environments will be preferred.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, quality systems, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
• Excellent leadership, project management, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Qualification: M.Tech/M.Sc./B.Tech/B.E. in Food Technology, Food Science, Dairy Technology, or a related discipline.
