Hiring for -Project Director (Mining Industry)
Location: India
CTC: Up to ₹65 Lakh per annum
Industry: Mining / Minerals / Natural Resources
Position: Project Director
Experience Required: 18–25+ years
- Role Overview
The Project Director will lead, manage, and execute large-scale mining projects end-to-end. This role requires an experienced leader with strong technical knowledge, stakeholder management capabilities, and proven expertise in delivering mining projects safely, within budget, and on schedule. The candidate will oversee project planning, execution, statutory compliance, risk management, and cross-functional coordination.
- Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Management
- Lead full lifecycle management of mining projects from planning to commissioning.
- Develop project strategy, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
- Oversee engineering, procurement, construction, and operational readiness.
- Manage multi-disciplinary project teams and external contractors.
- Ensure alignment with company goals, regulatory standards, and safety protocols.
Technical & Operational Oversight
- Review feasibility studies, geological reports, mine planning methodologies, and project designs.
- Optimize mining operations, equipment selection, and production processes.
- Implement best practices for productivity, cost efficiency, and sustainability.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all statutory permits, environmental clearances, and mining regulations are adhered to.
- Establish strong safety and risk management frameworks.
- Lead incident investigations and implement preventive measures.
Budgeting & Financial Control
- Manage project budgets, cash flow, and cost control measures.
- Conduct financial analysis, risk assessments, and project viability evaluations.
- Present project progress, cost forecasts, and risk reports to senior leadership.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Manage relationships with contractors, suppliers, consultants, and government bodies.
- Negotiate contracts, agreements, and vendor performance standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams—operations, finance, legal, ESG, procurement, and HR.
Team Management & Leadership
- Build, train, and motivate high-performing project teams.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
- Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering / Geology / Civil Engineering (mandatory).
- Master’s degree (MBA / M.Tech) preferred.
- 18–25+ years of experience in mining project execution.
- Proven experience leading large-scale mining or minerals projects (open-cast or underground).
- Strong understanding of mining equipment, project management tools, scheduling software, and safety systems.
- Expertise in regulatory compliance, EHS frameworks, and statutory approvals.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Preferred Skills
- PMP / Prince2 certification is an advantage.
- Experience in handling multi-site or international projects.
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage complex stakeholder environments.
