Finance Director – India
Location: India
Reporting To: Global Finance Leadership
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Finance Director to lead and strengthen our India finance operations while aligning closely with global finance objectives. This role combines strategic leadership with deep operational involvement, ensuring strong financial governance, scalable processes, and high-quality financial reporting.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Lead and develop the India Finance team, building strong capabilities and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Align India finance operations with global finance strategies and objectives.
Financial Operations
- Oversee month-end close processes, including transaction processing, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and preparation of accurate and timely financial statements.
- Ensure integrity and accuracy across all accounting records and reporting.
Functional Oversight
- Direct and supervise:
- Global Accounts Payable
- India Payroll
- India Accounting and Statutory Compliance
- Ensure adherence to corporate policies, statutory requirements, and operational efficiency.
Automation & Process Improvement
- Drive automation and process improvement initiatives to reduce manual effort, enhance internal controls, and support scalable finance operations.
- Champion the use of systems and tools to improve efficiency and data accuracy.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure strong financial governance and compliance with:
- Indian regulatory and tax frameworks
- Ind AS, IFRS, and relevant international accounting standards
- Support internal and external audits and regulatory reviews.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with global finance teams, business leaders, external auditors, and the corporate secretary.
- Support organizational growth initiatives, risk mitigation, and transparency in financial reporting.
Hands-On Contribution
- Actively perform key accounting and finance tasks when required, including:
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Journal entries
- Fixed asset accounting and reporting
- Ensure operational continuity during peak periods and set a high standard of execution.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience:
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- Prior experience working with US entities strongly preferred
- Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- CPA preferred
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of Ind AS, IFRS, and Indian statutory compliance
- Hands-on experience in payroll, accounts payable, general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics or other ERP/accounting systems
- Process & Systems:
- Proven track record of driving automation, process improvement, and scalable finance operations
- Analytical & Operational Skills:
- Strong accounting, quantitative, and analytical skills
- Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with data analytics or business intelligence tools
- Leadership & Work Style:
- Ability to foster accountability and collaboration across teams
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of troubleshooting operational issues
- Willingness to be hands-on and actively perform finance tasks when required
