Job Summary

We are seeking a creative and technically proficient Design & Technology Lab Teacher to manage and

deliver hands-on learning experiences in our cutting-edge D&T lab. The ideal candidate will have

expertise in engineering, woodworking, and prototyping, with the ability to teach and inspire

students in design thinking and practical applications. This role combines teaching, mentorship, and

lab management to prepare students for real-world problem-solving and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Development and Delivery:

Develop and deliver curriculum content focused on design, engineering, and technology concepts.

Create lesson plans that align with educational standards and foster creativity and critical thinking.

Teaching and Training:

Conduct hands-on workshops and lessons on using tools and equipment such as lathes, saws, 3D

printers, and laser cutters.

Teach students design principles, prototyping, and manufacturing techniques using tools like CAD

software.

Student Assessment and Mentorship:

Evaluate and assess student performance through assignments and projects, providing constructive

feedback.

Guide and mentor students on design projects, encouraging innovative solutions and craftsmanship.

Innovation and Collaboration:

Collaborate with fellow educators to integrate design and technology into interdisciplinary teaching

frameworks.

Stay updated with advancements in design and technology tools to ensure the lab reflects industry

standards.

Lab Management:

Maintain lab equipment and ensure tools and machinery are safe and operational.

Organize and manage inventory of materials, tools, and components required for student projects.

Enforce safety protocols and train students in safe use of equipment and machinery.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.

Certification and Experience:

Teaching certification or equivalent teaching experience.

Hands-on experience with design and workshop tools like lathes, saws, 3D printers, and CNC

machines.

Skills:

Proficiency in design software (e.g., CAD, SolidWorks, or similar).

Strong understanding of educational pedagogy and curriculum development for practical learning.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and inspire students.

Experience:

5+ years of experience in teaching or tutoring students in a workshop or lab setting.
