Role Purpose

The Vice Principal Middle School is the senior academic and operational leader responsible for the full functioning of Grades 6 to 8 at the School. This is a role that sits at the pivot between classroom-level execution and school-wide institutional direction. The VP Middle School is simultaneously an academic standards guardian, a people leader for middle school staff, a student welfare custodian, and an institutional brand ambassador for the most formative segment of a student’s CBSE journey.

Middle school, Grades 6 to 8, is among the most developmentally complex stages in school education. Students are navigating the shift from childhood to early adolescence, with rapidly changing academic demands, social dynamics, and emotional needs. The VP MS must hold the academic rigour of CBSE delivery in one hand and the pastoral sensitivity of adolescent wellbeing in the other, consistently and simultaneously.

The incumbent will be accountable for academic outcome quality, teaching staff performance, student behaviour and attendance, parent satisfaction, compliance with CBSE and institutional norms, and the contribution of the Middle School wing to the overall brand and culture of the School.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Postgraduate degree (MA / M.Sc.) in a relevant subject discipline; B.Ed. mandatory.
• Minimum 10 years of total teaching and academic leadership experience in a CBSE school, with at least 3 years in a formal academic leadership role ( Head Mistress or equivalent).
• Demonstrable experience of managing middle school students of Grades 6 to 8, specifically, with an understanding of the academic and developmental profile of this age group.
•  Strong understanding of CBSE curriculum, assessment patterns, and compliance requirements for the middle school segment.
• Proven ability to lead and develop a team of classroom teachers conducting observations, giving feedback, and supporting CPD.

Preferred

•  Prior experience as Vice Principal or in a designation with school-wide or multi-section academic leadership responsibility.
•  Familiarity with digital learning platforms such as Khan Academy, personalised learning or equivalent LMS tools.
• Experience with structured performance management systems (KRA-KPI frameworks, appraisal cycles).
• Exposure to CBSE LOC, examination management, or UDISE data processes.
• Certifications in child safety, POCSO awareness, or adolescent counselling frameworks are an advantage.
