JOB PURPOSE

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of Planning, QS, and Billing engineers across multiple locations

  • Develop structured training programs and provide ongoing coaching to ensure continuous skill development.
  • Foster a motivating work environment with clear performance metrics to drive accountability and improve retention.

Standardization & Process Improvement:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain national-level frameworks and SOPs for planning, quantity surveying, and billing operations across all project sites.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and client contractual requirements, minimizing discrepancies and disputes during execution and billing stages.

Project Execution & Turnover Planning:

  • Drive efficient project lifecycle planning (monthly, quarterly, and annual) to ensure timely delivery of committed project milestones.
  • Collaborate with project heads and technical leadership to set realistic turnover targets aligned with resource availability and market conditions.

Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Lead the monitoring of project progress, turnover targets, and billing forecasts on a daily basis.
  • Provide real-time management information systems (MIS) reports to leadership for effective decision-making and course corrections.
  • Analyze variances between planned vs. actual performance and implement corrective actions to maintain profitability.
  • Develop revenue, material, and procurement forecasts for all sites to support budgeting, procurement planning, and cash flow management.
  • Work closely with finance teams to prepare profitability forecasts, project cash flows, and resource planning models.

Billing Management & Control:

  • Oversee accurate quantity measurements, preparation, and submission of client invoices for all ongoing projects, ensuring timely billing cycles.
  • Implement invoice tracking systems to manage receivables, reduce payment delays, and maintain positive cash flow.
  • Address disputes related to quantity measurement or billing in collaboration with project teams and client representatives.

ERP & Technology Management:

  • Ensure timely data entry and integrity across SAP or other ERP systems, including planning, billing, procurement, and DPR updates.
  • Drive automation initiatives and identify digital tools to improve project planning, billing, and reporting efficiency.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering / Construction Management / Quantity Surveying or related field.
  • MBA, Masters or certification in Construction Planning, ERP (SAP), or Project Management (e.g., PMP, CCP) is an added advantage.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in project planning, quantity surveying, and billing within the civil construction sector.
  • At least 5+ years of leadership experience in top-tier building or civil construction firms like Shapoorji Pallonji, L&T, Capacite, PSP Projects, Ahluwalia Contracts, Vascon Engineering, or BL Kashyap (not developers).
  • Proven track record of hiring, managing, and retaining cross-functional engineering teams across multiple geographies.
  • Expertise in conflict resolution and the ability to engage with clients, contractors, and stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong proficiency in SAP (or equivalent ERP systems) for planning, procurement, billing, and MIS management.
  • Experience with Primavera, MS Project, or similar tools will be preferred.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Proactive leader with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
