Qualification:

• First degree (2:1 or 1st class) in a Mechanical, Electronics or Control engineering related subject
• Further engineering qualification in a Mechanical, Electronics or Control engineering related subject is advantageous
• Working towards / achieved relevant Chartered status (CEng) is advantageous

Overall purpose of role

• Act as line manager / supervisor for Bangalore Analysis team.
• Provide support to company’s Senior Management team across all group locations.
• Ensure continuous improvement in all engineering analysis related activity
• Contribute to the development & maintenance of all company’s products in an efficient manner, suitable for manufacture at the lowest possible cost whilst achieving required performance and quality targets.
• Assist in product & process trouble shooting as required.
• Ensure that global engineering process is followed at the Bangalore location in all aspects.
• Drive continuous improvement in all engineering analysis related activities and facilities.
• Work closely with engineering analysts across all locations to ensure best practice and learning is shared and maintained.

Key Accountabilities

• Take responsibility for the day to day management of the local engineering analysis team.
• Manage the reporting and achievement of KPIs for engineering analysis team.
• Take responsibility for the continuous development of engineering analysis processes.
• Provide technical guidance & mentoring to engineering analysis staff
• Define & work in accordance with Engineering procedures
• Plan and prioritise work within the department, ensuring timely delivery
• Develop & update engineering analysis methods, processes and procedures
• Prepare / review / approve and issue concise and accurate analysis reports
• Support the Sales team in the creation of customer facing technical reports
• Perform engineering analysis robustly and in a timely manner
• Partake in design reviews when required
• Assist in Design Failure Mode reviews (D-FMEA)
• Identify & advise Engineers on product manufacturing and performance issues
• Extract, process & analyse raw test data and manipulate as required to support wider engineering teams
• Ensure that the engineering analysis hardware & software is suitable for purpose
• Manage departmental spend through the purchase requisition, cap-ex & budget processes
• Ensure timesheet reporting (Liquid Planner) is timely and accurate for engineering analysis staff
• Work in accordance with QS 9001 & project relevant standards
• Work in a safe and environmentally aware way and promote this throughout the department and wider company
• Maintain housekeeping standards in the office and associated facilitiesRelationships
• Work closely with other Engineering, Analysis and Development personnel both locally and globally.
• Interact with Production, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality and Customer facing staff as required.

People

• Supervise engineering analysis staff (Principal Engineers, Engineers & Technicians)
• Ensure that appropriate individual targets and objectives are set and monitored in line with the Company’s PDR system/appraisal processes.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Experience

Essential

• Practical experience of and competence in engineering analysis for structural & dynamic events
• Practical experience of and competence in at least one proprietary analysis software type
• Practical experience gained within a mechanical product design & test environment
• Practical experience in preparation of complex technical reports suitable for all levels of reader
• Experience within a ISO9001 company environment
• PC literate (excel, word, e-mail)
• Understanding of H&S in a product development environment

Advantageous

• Personnel & facility management of a small engineering analysis team
• Familiar with an ISO17025 environment and requirements
• Practical experience within a mechanical product manufacturing environment
• Practical experience of engineering analysis for structural fatigue and vibration
• Knowledge & experience of multiple proprietary analysis softwares
• Knowledge of statistical methods applicable to product development and manufacture (e.g. six sigma, DoE, SPC)
• Understanding of prediction and statistical test uncertainties and uncertainty budgets o Knowledge of product development quality tools (e.g. FMEA, DVP&R)
