Career Counsellor (CBSE School)
(CBSE Inspection & NEP 2020 Aligned)
Reporting To : Principal / Director of Schools / Academic Head
Role Purpose
To support CBSE’s mandate on guidance, counselling, student well-being, and career readiness by providing structured, ethical, and documented career counselling services to students, aligned with CBSE Circulars, NEP 2020, and school inspection requirements.
CBSE ALIGNMENT STATEMENT (Important)
This role directly supports CBSE expectations related to:
- Guidance & Counselling services in schools
- Career awareness and student readiness
- Mental health & emotional well-being
- Documentation, reporting, and student support systems
Key Responsibilities (Inspection-Aligned)
- Student Guidance & Career Counselling
- Conduct individual and group counselling sessions for students (Grades VI–XII).
- Guide students on:
o Subject selection (Grades VIII–X)
o Stream selection (Grade X)
o Career pathways, higher education options, and skill-based careers
- Maintain confidential student counselling records (mandatory for inspection).

- Career Awareness & Exposure Programmes
- Plan and conduct:
o Career talks
o University interactions
o Career fairs / webinars
o Industry exposure sessions
- Ensure programmes are age-appropriate and documented.

Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s in Psychology / Counselling / Education or related field
- Certified Career Counsellor (preferred)
- 2–5 years’ experience in a CBSE / ICSE / reputed school setup
